Hospitality and Retail - Primary deliverable to design a hotel and retail space for a large site on Toronto’s waterfront. Our concept of journey was derived from our main retail component, the Vespa. The floorplates of the buildings are inspired by parts of the Vespa itself. The floorplates rotate as the buildings rise from a central platform that acts as an outdoor garden/square inspired by the piazza’s of Italy. A unique bridge carries pedestrian traffic across the roadway and links to a “lighthouse” restaurant that sits in a park directly next to the water.
